ROSELLE, NJ – Leah Rubinshteyn continued her the fabulous start to her freshman season by scoring four goals as the Summit High School Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team overwhelmed Westfield 7-1 at the Warinanco Skating Center. The win lifts the Hilltoppers to 5-1 on the season.
Rubinshteyn scored twice just over 10 minutes apart in the first period and the Maroon and White never looked back. Leading 2-0, Summit found the back of the net four more times in the second period through Rubinshteyn’s third and fourth of the day and tallies from freshman Taylor Cornell and sophomore Maisie Hiltabrand.
The Hilltoppers’ sophomore Skye Gilbert added an exclamation point goal in the third period. Senior netminder Julia Oppici stopped seven of eight shots she faced as her teammates fired 31 shots on the Westfield goal.
