ROSELLE, NJ – Freshman Lily Spinner stopped all 27 shots she faced and junior Maisie Hiltabrand and sophomore Leah Rubinshteyn each scored twice as the Summit High School Girls Ice Hockey Team defeated Pingry 5-0 at the Warinanco Skating Center. The shutout was the first of Spinner’s Hilltopper career.

Sophomore Taylor Cornell also found the back of the net for the Maroon and White, while Rubinshteyn added two assists for a four-point game and junior Caroline Sharpe notched three helpers.

After a scoreless first period, Summit scored three second-period goals, then took a 4-0 lead — and total control of the outcome — when Hiltabrand scored with 11:26 left in the contest.

The Hilltoppers outshot Big Blue 28-27.

Summit, now 12-6-2 on the season, next enters the NJSIAA Girls Ice Hockey Tournament as the sixth seed and will face 11th-seeded Randolph February 25 at Warinanco. The puck drops at 5 p.m.
