Summit H.S. Girls Ice Hockey Scores Twice in Final Period to Tie OKS, 3-3

ROSELLE, NJ – The Summit High School Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team, down 3-1 at the end of two periods of play, scored a pair of goals in the final period to earn a 3-3 tie with Oak Knoll School at the Warinanco Skating Center.

A goal from sophomore Leah Rubinshtyen — assisted by junior Maisie Hiltabrand — narrowed the deficit to 3-2, and senior Emily Sharpe set up junior Caroline Sharpe to knot he score with less than eight minutes remaining. Neither team could break the deadlock thereafter.

Freshman Lily Spinner made 32 saves in goal for the Maroon and White as Summit was outshot 35-28.

The Hilltoppers opened the scoring in the first period when Rubinshteyn scored her 50th career goal. The Royals answered with two goals and tacked on another in the second period.

Summit, now 7-2-2, next takes on Randolph January 16 at Warinanco. Face-off is set for 5:15 p.m
