ROSELLE, NJ – Coming off a 12-0 demolition of Montclair Kimberley Academy, the Summit High School Boys Hiockey Team scored five unanswered goals to defeat Paramus 5-1 at the Warinanco Skating Center. The victory was the Hilltopppers’ ninth straight and lifted their season record to 16-3-2.

After falling behind to an Anton Safonov goal in the opening period, senior captain Tom Pryymak leveled things, assisted by juniors Gavin Ruschmeier and Greg Spitznagel.

In the second period, Summit’s special teams were special.

After an even-strength goal from freshman Jake Lowry, assisted by Spitznagel and junior Matt Vigliotta, the Maroon and White dented the Paramus net both short-handed and on the power play. Skating a man down, Summit applied a double-dose of Captain crunch, with senior captain Jake Puskar setting up Pryymak for his second of the game. Then came a triple dose of the same treat when senior captain Spencer Myers scored on the man advantage, set up by Puskar and Pryymak.

In the final period, Summit added a sweetener to their serial scoring when Pryymak scored his Hat Trick goal, assisted by Spitznagel and Puskar.

The Hilltopper outshot Paramus 39-20, with Summit netminder Nikita Pryymak collecting 19 saves and the ‘W’.

On the milestone front, both Puskar and Spitznagel notched their 100th career point, and Nikita Pryymak now has 1,000 career saves between the pipes for The ‘Top.

Next up for the Hilltoppers is a McInnis (League) Cup semifinal contest February 18 against a yet-to-be-decided opponent at Warinanco. Face-off is set fore 6:35 p.m.
