WEST ORANGE, NJ – Junior Justin Ross scored the eventual game-winning goal in the third period as the Summit High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Team shaded Livingston 3-2 at the Codey Ice Arena. The victory is the sixth straight for the Maroon and White and lifts their season record to 13-3-2.

Summit has now gone unbeaten in 10 games, an 8-0-2 streak that began December 30 of last year.

Hilltopper senior captain Jake Puskar set up classmate Joe Galgano to give Summit the lead in the first period, an advantage that was doubled when senior captains Tom Pryymak and Spencer Myers assisted on freshman Dylan Goldfarb’s second-period tally.

The Lancers cut the Hilltopper lead in half when Dylan Flaherty scored, and the teams went to final period with Summit ahead 2-1.

After Ross restored Summit’s lead to a deuce, a goal assisted by junior Kyle Graham and sophomore Pat Lumelleau, Livingston replied through Dylan Foley.

Summit senior netminder Nikita Pryymak, who had 18 saves, and his teammates were able to hold the fort the rest of the way. The Hilltoppers outshot Livingston 20-19, with the Lancers’ Trevor Dzama making 16 stops.

Summit is back on the ice February 3, traveling to Montclair’s Clary Anderson Arena to face the Mounties. Face-off is set for 4:15 p.m.
