WAYNE, NJ – The Summit High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Team lost its second straight Ice Vault Tournament Game, a 4-2 decision to Seton Hall Prep. The Hilltoppers came within 85 seconds of being shutout before scoring two late, third-period goals.

Summit was outshot 24-23 in the game, with Hilltopper freshman goaltender Grant McCormack stopping 20 shots. Junior Jake Puskar and senior Greg Moller each had a goal for the Maroon and White, while junior Tom Pryymak assisted on both Summit goals and Puskar along with freshman Chris Magovern each notching assists.

Ryan Kemp had a goal and three assists to pace ‘The Prep’.

Seton Hall led 1-0 after the opening 15 minutes of play courtesy of a power play goal, Kemp scored perhaps the pivotal goal of the game when he found the back of the net with just eight seconds left in the second period. The Pirates broke the game open with two goals 40-seconds apart early in the final frame.

Puskar spoiled the shutout bid of Seton Hall’s Patrick Ackerman at 1:25 of the third, and Moller scored on the power play with six seconds left in the game.

Summit, now 7-3 on the season, will wrap up Ice Vault Tourney play December 30 against Bergen Catholic. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
