MONTCLAIR, NJ – Senior captains Jake Puskar and Tom Pryymak combined for three goals and six assists, and the Summit High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Team powered past Montclair 7-3 at Clary Anderson Arena. The victory was the Maroon and White’s seventh straight and elevates their season record to 14-3-2.

Senior goaltender Nikita Pryymak was both busy and strong, stopping 32 of the 35 shots he faced. Puskar had two goals and three assists while Tom Pryymak had a goal and three helpers as well. Junior Greg Spitznagel scored twice for Summit, with senior captain Spencer Myers and freshman Jake Lowry netting the other Hilltop tallies. Junior Matt Vigliotta, freshman Dylan Goldfarb (2) and Spitznagel also notched assists.

During the win, Tom Pryymak reached the 150 points mark in his Hilltopper career.

Summit had a short-handed goal and two power play scores on the afternoon, led 2-1 after the first period, and then took control of the game with three unanswered goals in the second stanza that bumped the advantage to 5-1 after two.

Brett Janifer and Eamon Thall each had a goal and an assist for the Mounties. Montclair goaltender Lucas Podvey was credited with 25 saves.

Summit’s two-game Montclair road trip continues with a tilt versus Montclair Kimberley Academy February 5. Face-off — again at Clary Anderson Arena — is set for 4:15 p.m.
