UNION, NJ – Junior Tom Pryymak scored a Hat Trick — including goals two and three less than a half-minute apart in the first 65 seconds of the third period — as the Summit High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Team skated past Scotch Plains-Fanwood 8-2 at the Union Sports Arena.

Junior Jake Puskar had a goal-and-four-assist, five-point afternoon, and Hilltopper goaltenders Grant McCormack and Emory Carlson combined to make 23 saves as the Maroon and White, now 9-3 on the season, outshot the Raiders 31-25.

The Hilltoppers fell behind halfway through the when SP-F’s Kyle Remo scored, but Pryymak leveled things just over a minute later and junior defenseman Spencer Myers gave The ‘Top the lead when he scored unassisted 46 seconds later.

Puskar, assisted by senior Luc Radice, found the back of the net on the power play for the second period’s lone tally before four Summit goals in a span of 4:20 of the third put the game away.

Pryymak’s brace, followed by goals from freshman Chris Magovern and senior Davis Strabley, preceded Strabley’s second of the day, on the power play assisted by senior captain Greg Moller at 8:33, which made it 8-1. Will White got a late, not-much-of-a-consolation goal for the Raiders.

Summit is back on the ice January 8, taking on Livingston at the Warinanco Skating Center. The puck drops at 6:35 p.m.
