NEWARK, NJ – Despite outshooting the Dragons 44-8, the Summit High School Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team was forced to settle for a 1-1 tie with Kent Place School at the AmeriHealth Pavilion at the Prudential Center.

Junior Caroline Sharpe’s goal at 4:23 of the first period — assisted by senior Skye Gilbert — was canceled out when Kent Place scored on the Power Play just after the five-minute mark of the third period. Freshman Lily Spinner stopped seven of the eight shots she faced in goal for the Hilltoppers.

Noemi Martinez stood on her head for the Dragons, making 43 saves.

Summit, now 2-0-1 on the season, next travels to the Twin Oaks Rink in Morristown December 9 to take on Morristown-Beard. The puck drops at 4:45 p.m.
