NEWARK, NJ – A year that saw the Summit High School Girls Ice Hockey Team win their first-ever Morris Union Somerset Girls Ice Hockey League Title and then skate all the way to the Final in the inaugural NJSIAA Tournament came to a close with a 3-0 loss to number-one seed Morristown-Beard in the Fnal at the Prudential Center.

The Hilltoppers end their season with a record of 15-7-2. Summit freshman goaltender Lily Spinner stood tall against the Crimson, stopping 25 of 28 shots, but the Maroon and White could manage just 11 shots on goal the entire game.

Leah Stecker scored twice and Logan Sutera had a goal for Morristown-Beard, which led 1-0 after the opening period and 3-0 after two. Sasha Berniker got the shutout in goal for the Crimson.

Sixth-seeded Summit reached the final by knocking off third-seeded Pingry and second-seeded Trinity Hall.

After the final was contested, the New Jersey Devils hosted the third annual New Jersey High School Girls Ice Hockey All-Star Game. While they did not play in the game due to their involvement in the final, four Summit Hilltoppers were members of the All-Star Team:

Senior captain Emily Sharpe
Junior Maisie Hiltabrand
Junior Caroline Sharpe
Sophomore Leah Rubinshteyn
