ROSELLE, NJ – Bridget Murphy and Kate Siedem each scored two goals as the Oak Knoll Royals defeated the Summit High School Girls Ice Hockey Team 5-0 in the inaugural Union County Tournament Final at the Warinanco Skating Center.

Oak Knoll led 1-0 at the end of the first period on a goal by Siedem assisted by Gabby Volpe. The same tandem teamed up to double up the Royals’ lead in the second stanza, then Murphy — on the power play — and Emma Ramsey both found the back of the net to raise the lead to 4-0. That cushion was way more than Emmalyn Lacz needed, as the Oak Knoll goaltender stopped all 29 shots she faced.

Murphy’s second of the night in the final period rounded out the scoring. Volpe ended up with three assists.

Freshman Lily Spinner was credited with 21 saves between the pipes for Summit.

Next up for the Hilltoppers, now 9-3-2, is a January 29 matchup versus Kent Place School at Warinanco. Face-off is set for 5 p.m.
