Summit H.S. Boys Hockey Wins Second Game in as Many Days, Skates by GL 4-1

ROSELLE, NJ – Sophomore Greg Spitznagel had two goals and an assist as the Summit High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Team defeated Governor Livingston 4-1 at the Warinanco Skating Center. Summit, now 6-1 on the season, outshot the Highlanders 41-13.

The Hilltoppers methodically built a 3-0 lead on goals from Spitznagel in the first period, Spitznagel again — assisted by sophomore Spencer Myers and with the Maroon and White a man down — in the second stanza, and junior Tom Pryymak in the third.

Governor Livingston got a goal back when Ryan Erickson scored with 5:20 left in the game, but junior Jake Puskar — set-up by seniors Luc Radice and Greg Moller — iced the contest with 44 seconds left.

Freshman Grant McCormack stopped 12 shots in goal for the Hilltoppers. Sophomore Gavin Ruschmeier, Collins and Pryymak also had assists on the day.

Summit will next write another chapter in the storied tome that is the River Road Rivalry on December 21, when they do battle Chatham at the Union Sports Arena. The puck drops at 4:10 p.m.
