ROSELLE, NJ – The number-one seeded Summit High School Boys Varsity Hockey Team got a Hat Trick from junior Greg Spitznagel plus two goals from senior captain Tom Pryymak and defeated fourth-seeded Livingston 6-3 to reach the McInnis Cup Final. There, the Hilltoppers — winners of 10 in-a-row and now 17-3-2 on the season — will face number-two seed Montclair at the Codey Ice Arena on February 22.

Junior Gavin Ruschmeier had the other Summit goal, senior captain Jake Puskar had three assists and freshman Jake Lowry added two helpers. Senior goaltender Nikita Pryymak stopped 18 shots to earn the win.

Austin Vecchio had two goals and Dylan Foley a goal and two assists or the Lancers, who got 19 saves from Trevor Dzama.

Foley had the first period’s only goal but the Hilltoppers scored five of the game’s next six tallies, including three in the second period to take a 3-1 lead heading to the final frame. Vecchio narrowed the Summit lead to 3-2, but the Maroon and White answered with goals from Spitznagel and Tom Pryymak to take firm control.

Up 5-3, Spitznagel ended any suspense with his Hat Trick goal into an empty net.

Face-off time for the final versus the Mounties is set for 6 p.m.
