Spinner's 28 Saves Help Summit H.S. Girls Ice Hockey Stop Westfield 6-2 as Emily Sharpe Sets New School Career Points Mark

ROSELLE, NJ – Freshman goaltender Lily Spinner stopped 28 out 30 pucks directed her way and the Summit High School Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team defeated Westfield 6-2 at the Warinanco Skating Center. The win elevates the Hilltoppers’ season mark to 5-1-1.

Summit senior captain Emily Sharpe — by virtue of her first-period goal — set a new school career points mark. Sharpe now has amassed 70 points, eclipsing the previous record of 69 points set by Class of 2017 dynamo Cecily Stabler.

Against the Blue Devils, sophomore Taylor Cornell freshman Elizabeth Puskar and had two goals and junior Caroline Sharpe tallied once. Senior captain Lily Neilan (2) Cornell (2),. junior Skye Gilbert and Caroline Sharpe added assists. For the game, Summit narrowly outshot Westfield, 31-30.

Maddie Katz had both Blue Devil goals and Megan Raftery made 25 saves in net.

The Hilltoppers next travel to the Bridgewater Sports Arena January 3 where they will take on Chatham. Face-off is set for 6:20 p.m.
