WAYNE, NJ – The Summit High School Boys Varsity Ice Hockey Team was unable to hold onto a one-goal lead in the final period, surrendering two goals — including the game-deciding marker in the final minute — and subsequently falling to Seton Hall Prep 3-2 at the Ice Vault in Wayne,

Trailing 1-0 in the second period, Summit junior Greg Spitznagel set-up senior captain Jake Puskar to level the score. Then Puskar’s classmate and fellow captain Tom Pryymak — assisted by senior Joe Galgano — found the back of the net in the third period to give the Maroon and White the lead back at 2-1, but the Pirates late show sent Summit to its third consecutive defeat.

Seton Hall Prep’s Patrick Zincone assisted on the game-tying goal by Ryan Rodrigues with one tick more than five minutes left, then himself got the game-winner with just 31 seconds remaining.

The Hilltoppers were outshot 36-20, with Summit senior goaltender Nikita Pryymak making 33 saves.

The ‘Top, now 5-3 on the season, will be right back on the ice December 30 — again at the Ice Vault — when they take on Lakeland Regional. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
